Dr. Greg recently posted this week an email protip about splints for dental trauma.
Small pearl: to help stabilize during splinting, have the patient bite down on a tongue depressor (double win esp if tooth has been luxated or avulsed and you’ve repositioned confidently/to the best of your ability).
Don’t forget for all dental trauma injuries the IADT follow up protocol – 1w, 1m, 3m, 6m, 1y and then yearly for 5y.
I see SO many patients with major complications because follow up has lapsed/not occurred (for whatever reason). Asymptomatic does not mean healthy, and dental trauma often affects more than the *obvious* tooth involved.
